Half Dead Tree and Rocks - Perfect Hammock Hang
Просмотров 449Год назад
I’ve been having fun rigging my Wilderness Innovation Poncho as a hammock in some unusual places. Traditionally we picture hammocks between two trees, but often I find myself in locations where that is not feasible, now I find it fun to look for odd spots to hang. This time a Juniper tree that is half dead and the face of a cliff area are my two points to hang my hammock from. WOW I uploaded th...
Add Spreaders to the Storm Shield for Wider Interior - Hammock Cover 360 degree
Просмотров 567Год назад
The Storm Shield is a simple tube style cover for our ponchos in hammock mode. Typically the Storm Shield rides on a ridge line over the hammock. Spreaders are an inverted “V” that helps to hold the top more open and can allow more air circulation. These can be added to existing models or selected as an option on new ones (check availability on website). For more info call 801-810-9453
Hammock Cover - Using the Storm Shield - Slide on off
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.Год назад
The Storm Shield is a slide over slide off cover for hammocks that gives all around protection without the need to use stakes or guy lines. It allows the cover to be stored at the foot of the hammock and pulled over in seconds. The Storm Shield is designed to work with all our ponchos in their hammock mode. It is cut generous enough to allow use of under quilts.

    I just today purchased a set of chains for my SUV front wheel drive vehicle. The chains I purchased give a Diamond pattern on the tire. But I was glad to see the demonstration on the tensioner, because I purchased them to go with my chain set, and now I understand what they do. Thanks again for that explanation. Fortunately I have my vehicle in a metal stand alone carport, so when cold weather gets here I can get out and practice their installation!

    You’re just what I look for could you make me a poncho? I’d like a camouflage poncho. I’m 5 foot 11 and weigh 270 pounds. The weights coming off, but I figure I can always get another one.

    Batoning is simply safer; use a machete, without getting your hand and fingers too close. Not everyone has enough manual dexterity to time the hits and holding device.

    I still can’t find a video that has the setup you sent me. I guess I have the shuttle sling. But I have two Dyneema loops. Not a rope with two eyes. How to I feed a loop thru the end of the hammock? Or better question, how do I attach the loop to the hammock?

    • @ulbushcrafting6592
      @ulbushcrafting6592 2 месяца назад

      The loop makes about a 6” circle and says “Cypher” on it. So I’m confused 😂

    • @ulbushcrafting6592
      @ulbushcrafting6592 2 месяца назад

      It did not come with aluminum toggles. So I’m confused how it loops thru the hammock, connects to the soft shackle, then to the tree, without aluminum toggles

    • @ulbushcrafting6592
      @ulbushcrafting6592 2 месяца назад

      I guess I’ll use the aluminum toggles that came with the other poncho. That have blue Dyneema tree straps.

    The tri-pod idea is good. If you'll raise one corner of the tarp above the rest your smoke will follow it out. With the wind to the low end. No smoke, stay dry and warm.

    Thanks for the great idea, I just made a set! One modification I made though was to hammer down/in the sides of the top to make a smooth channel along the top. I like to set up tarp up in an adirondak-style configuration, with the front held on on sticks. So having those channels means that if I have two trees to hang from and don't need the stand, I can take the pin out and use the poles to hold up the corners of my tarp!
